Can Long Use Of Nizoral, Bontress Lotion Cause Any Adverse Effect On My Hair In Long Run
I have been suffering from dandruff problem since many years... All my attempts have failed. Approached a dermatologist and she preferred noskurf lotion and bontress lotion along with nizoral shampoo. these lotions and shampoos have lot of chemicals. Will they have any adverse effect on my hair in long run or any side effects?

I understand your concern regarding usage of these products.
I would advice that you can safely use products like Nizoral(Ketoconazole), Noskurf lotion(Climbazole+piroctone olamine) which are proven antifungals, in the longer run. Ketoconazole can cause dryness as a side effect.
Noskurf is an overnight leave-on application and in most of the cases using it twice weekly alone is sufficient and in my patients i ask to wash it next day with a gentle OTC shampoo(not necessarily ketoconazole).
Bontress lotion is capixyl which can be used as a hair growth promoter according to the claims, but their are no controlled trials to evaluate whether it is beneficial in the long run Or any side effects of long term use.

The treatment given to you is basically that of dandruff. The lotions you are using contains both dandruff products which have been tested to be safe by various methods.
Even using them for prolonged periods would not have any side effects.
Infact most dermatologists recommend that one should continue to use an anti dandruff shampoo for long pensione especially in patients who have this problem recurrence of dandruff.
So you can safely use the products and remember to see your dermatologist regularly for guidance.
