Can Induced Vomitings Be Connected With Meningitis?

My siblings and I have suspected our 74 year old mother has narcissistic personality disorder for quite some time. We also believe she might be bulimic. She is now in the hospital with possible meningitis. Can the induced vomiting somehow be connected with the meningitis? We are going to sit down with her doctor today to tell him our suspicions about the bulimia.

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Meningitis is a brain infection, which can lead to headache, fever and persistent vomiting. It has several specific signs which can be detected by the doctor. Thus, if meningitis is suspected, a lumbar puncture should be done to exclude this possibility. Nevertheless, the past medical history should be discussed with the doctor in order to make the right medical decisions.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Neurologist Dr. Dr. Abhishek Juneja's  Response
Hi,

Vomiting without any associated history of fever, neck pain, headache, or neck stiffness do not indicate possible meningitis. In case she doesn't have any other symptoms, it's worth to discuss with the doctor about your apprehension. This may aid in diagnosis.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
