Can History Of Sinusitis And Allergies Cause Sore Nose?

Thank you. I have a sore feeling in the nostril of my nose on the right side. On the outside it is slightly red and feels like a hard tightness inside when I touch it. I have irrigated with saline spray and put some neosporin ointment. I have a history of allergies and sinusitis. In the last two weeks I finished taking Levaquin and the doctor gave me a steriod shot. Any suggestions?

I didn't realize I would pay for advice tonight. I will call my physican in the morning. It is Christmas weekend and I hope he will be in his office. Thanks anyway.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

Looking at your symptoms, you are probably suffering from Vestibulitis-It is inflammation of the hair follicle inside the nostril.It is usually caused due to cleaning of the nose due to nail bite or picking up the hair from the nose.

You may find relief by taking the following medications:
Oral antibiotic like Augmentin,
Analgesic with Antiinflammatory like Ibuprofen,
Antacid like Rantac,
Antibiotic ointment like Neosporin to be applied over the reddish Nasal skin.
