Can Elevated ALT Enzymes Cause Skin Rash During Pregnancy?

Hi,Im 31 and 22 weeks pregnant. I have elevated ALT enzymes,my midwife said its almost DOUBLE the amount of what it should be. What can I do? I also have a full body skin rash that has developed over the last few months...could it be related? please help!

hi you could be having a condition called obstetric cholestasis where there is elevated ast alt and is associated with itching . but if there is no itching and only rash then obstetric cholestasis can be ruled out . in this condition you must keep a watch on the fetal movements and report to the gynaec in case of decreased movements as it can cause sudden iufds. start taking tab certizine 1 tab twice a day for 3 days and tab ursodeoxycholic acid twice a day and you must get induced for delivery by 37 38 weeks . take care all the best
