Can Cortisone Cause Disorientation And Confusion?

Hi,

My dad was admitted to hospital with an allergy which they say was caused by a change in his medications. He is taking high blood pressure and cholestral medications. They gave him cortisone for his allergy. Now he is sleeping very little and is very disoriented and confused. Can you please tell me why and if it is a side effect of the cortisone. I appreciate your reply. Thanks . In need of some help.

Hello!

My name is Dr. Aida and I am glad to attend you on Healthcaremagic!

The confusion and sleep disorder could be related to steroid intake. This is a common adverse effect of steroids. The allergic reaction could also contribute in all this clinical situation. So, just relax and don't worry about it!
This seems to be just a temporary situation.
Hope you will find this answer helpful!
Best wishes!
