Bruises On Forearms, Slightly Sore. Worried?

I have bruises on both my forearms. Quarter sized bruises, only slightly sore to the touch. I have been bruising easier in the last year or so. I am 52 yrs old, female. I have been packing and bagging up personal items due to bedbugs in our home, and I have been noticing bruises that I don't know how I got. Just wondering if I should be worried. I am otherwise healthy. Recently when I notice bruising (mostly on my legs) they go away in a few weeks.

Hi,
Thank you for posting your question here, I will try to answer it to the best of my abilities.

Usually as we get older our skin gets thinner, this leads to us getting cuts and bruises more easily. So, my advice to you is avoid doing things that can cause to bruise, packing luggage and carrying it around counts as an activity that can lead to bruises.
Also, as a precautionary measure I recommend you see your doctor and have him run your blood, to check your thrombocyte level.

I hope this helped.

Dermatologist Dr. Sanjay Kumar Kanodia's  Response
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for posting your query to Healthcare Magic.
As per your query you have bruises on both forearms which are sore to touch. Generally bruises are not painful but in your case these are painful so it appears to be either insect bit or due to harsh scratching over the same.
You can wait for around 2-3 days. If the pain subsides then is nothing to be worried but if this persist then it is better to consult a dermatologist for best guidance.
For the time being you do not scratch the area and can take pain killer with antihistamines. You can apply a mild steroid containing fluticasone in it.
Hope these information will help.
