Bruise And Pain In Leg Due To Thigh Hitting Hard Against Something, Indentation In The Place Of Injury. Thoughts?

I have had an injury within the past month. My lateral left thigh hit something very hard. It bruised for about a week and gave me pain all down my left leg. I'm unable to stay off my leg due to work and have recently noticed that there is an indentation where the injury occurred. I'm still experiencing much pain. What is going on?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

The indentation that you see could be due to the soft tissue injury underneath the skin and possibly be a muscle tear. As you are still experiencing much pain in that area, I suggest you to undergo an MRI scan which diagnoses your condition.

Momentarily, you can try the RICE regime (rest, ice, compression, elevation) along with medications like Advil or Aleve to reduce the pain and inflammation.

The definitive treatment depends on the condition diagnosed.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
