Blood Test Shows Elevated Sugar And Cholesterol Levels Along With High Pulse Rate

I saw my doctor yesterday for a physical. Blood tests showed slightly elevated sugar, but well below diabetic, elevated cholesterol but good LDL numbers, pulse was 88/122. I'm 45, 177 lbs, and losing. He said I was in pretty good shape.

I haven't been feeling well today, and just checked my pulse twice, and scored 104 the first time, and 106 the next after a couple minutes rest.

Should I follow this up?

Diabetologist 's  Response
Hi, welcome to our site. I am Dr Saumya Mittal.

Read your query. That is a very significant question and i appreciate your problem. I will try my best to answer your query

I dont think you need to worry much as far as the blood pressure is concerned- 122/88. that's normal so its ok. as far as the high pulse is concerned, anything that makes you feel unwell or even anxiety about it will step up the pulse.

besides high cholesterol and prediabetes (sugars that are not normal and yet not high enough to be diabetes) will both step up the heart rate as well.

I would appreciate if you tell me what you mean by feeling well. its difficult to tell you a problem just by pulse rate and incompletely stated reports. Please do enter a more detailed query so that I can help you better.

For prediabetes, have a check on HbA1c.

I hope this helps you. Inform the reports mentioned above so i can be of help further. Best of luck.

I have given you the answer to the maximum considering the information provided. The results of the tests could further enhance my answer to you.

Please do understand that some details could be extracted from a detailed history and examination.

Looking forward to your return query with the details asked so that I can help you further. Please feel free to ask another query. Would be glad to help you.
