Bleeding After Scratch From Puppy's Teeth. Tetanus Or Anti-rabies Shot Needed?
hi doctor! my friend got a little scratched now from his 8 months old puppy from his teeth . It bleed a little but it isn t that deep cut. The puppy has shots already but not yet complete. Does she need to get a tetanus shot or anti rabies shot so that we can bring her now to the hospital? Thank you in advance for your reply and help.
Hello and thanks for the query
The treatment of a dog bite include:
1. Proper cleaning of the wound with water or antiseptic solution immediately after the injury.
2. Tetanus Toxid and rabiesvaccination within 24 hrs of injury.
3. Proper aseptic cleaning and care of the wound.
4. A course of antibiotic to protect it from the infection.
As the course of antirabies is not completed. You need to take the rabies vaccination and Tetanus toxid as early as possible. So consult your doctor and get the vaccination and other management done.
Best Wishes
