Arm Pain, High Blood Pressure, Dizziness, Chest Pain. Tests Clear. Anxiety Or Heart Issue?
Hi my left arm is hurting, home from work, stressful day, have high bp and was 138/100 until I laid down, dropped to 121 /83. Slight dizziness today but have had for months with chest pains, doc thinks disembarkment. My son is 11 mos and is 22 lbs , plus did yoga on wed. Had high bp bad during preg. Think I am stressed so want to make sure I am just having Axnxiety and not heart issue. Stomach upset and several bowel movements today. Tests were clear and good in Dec when was in ER for 210/140 bp. Have since changed my bp meds. That's it in a nutshell. Thanks.

The description sounds like Anxiety... However, Anxiety should rather be an exclusion diagnosis... EKG / HOLTER (24 to 48 hour ambulatory monitoring) / ECHOcardiogram / TMT (Treadmill exercise ECG) / LABORATORY work-up – may all be necessary for further assessment and assistance. You may even need Electro Physiological Studies (EPS)... With a history of Hypertension, condition like Pheochromocytoma (can cause anxiety, BP and fast rate) have to be excluded... The treating doctor may suggest them depending on need, based on his assessment of the situation.
