Suggest Dosage Of Acitrom For Prosthetic Valve

I am on 1 m.g daily (sunday 2mg) acitrom for prosthetic valve. Recently I had a bradycardia with 30 heart beats after a haemmorhagic infarction in right occipital lobe confirmed through MRI. After which I had got implanted an dual chamber pacemaker. My question is how to adjust for acitrom dosage. My anticoagualtion is perfect with 2.7 INR with above dosage. sometimes it goes more than 3.8 INR. Shall i skip the extra doasage? Venkatarangan Mysore India 51 years, 81 kgs, 5.6 (164cms)

Hi,

It is important to consult with your healthcare provider before making any changes to your medication regimen, including adjusting the dosage of the acitrom. Your healthcare provider will be able to assess your situation and make recommendations based on your specific medical history and condition.

It is important to maintain a therapeutic INR range to prevent blood clots, but at the same time, it is important to minimize the risk of bleeding. Skipping or changing your dosage without consulting your healthcare provider may lead to unwanted and potentially serious side effects. Your healthcare provider may also want to monitor your INR more closely after the pacemaker implantation to ensure that your anticoagulation therapy is optimal.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
