Are Abdominal Cramping, Bloating, Belching And Heartburn Symptoms Of Helicobacter?

Iv recently been to the GP with chronic abdominal cramping, bloating, pain, belching and heartburn she prescribed Zoton tabs 1 a day for 30 days and said avoid certain foods. 16days in and there is no change I now also have severe headache do you think this could be helicobacter?

Hi,

If there is no improvement with lansoprazole, You can go for urea breath test for H. pylori infection. Upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy will be required if UBT comes comes negative. As bloating and belching are also seen in Inflammatory Bowel Disease. For severe symptoms you can take IV shots of pantoprazole and buscopan or tramadol.
