Are I/V Fluids Required For Nausea And Dehydration?

Hi, I have been really dehydrated for several days now and am nauseated and have a headache, also cloudy urine. I am struggling with anorexia and forget to drink and dont know if I can rehydrate at this point. When should someone go in for IV fluids?

Hello,

Usually, drinking of plenty of fluids is sufficient. Drink plenty of oral rehydration solution is useful.

If you are suffering severe dehydration like hypotension or decreased urine output or decreased skin turgor need IV fluids administration.

If symptoms not improved, then please consult your doctor so that he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
