Hello

Alcoholic fatty liver takes years to present with pain. Other possible causes of pain like gastritis and pancreatitis may also need to be ruled out due to history of alcoholism.
I would advice my patient to do a liver function test, serum amylase and ultrasound of the abdomen to arrive at a diagnosis and treatment according.
