Ankles Swell At Night Until The Morning In A 75yo Male With Mitral Valve Prolapse?
my ankles have been swelling at night for about a year and usually return to normal in the a.m. however after a round trip flight of about six hours each way the swelling is worse and my ankles do not return to normal. I have been taking 5mg of lisinopril for about a year. I am a 75 year old male in good health except for mitral valve prolapse which is stable.
I had gone through the case and have concerned for you.
Ankle swelling might be due to water retention in ankle region. Normally it happens with heart patients. So do not worry, as you are taking the heart medication for Mitral valve prolapse. Also take diuretic for reduction of swelling.
I will advise you to consult your cardiac physician for adjust your medication along with diuretic. Also avoid excessive intake of salt.
Hope my answer will be effective for you.
Thanks,
Dr.Soni Verma
