What Is The Treatment For A Small Bump In The Throat?

can prophylactic use of amoxicillin before dental work over the last 4 visits in 3 months (for Mitral valve prolapse) begin causing excessive flatulance, bloat, and burping? It feels like a small lump in my throat when I swallow too. I do not feel sick otherwise.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Amoxicillin use can cause burping or bloating. I suggest to take daily probiotics. I also recommend to use over the counter medications to reduce the bloating such as Simethicone treatment. I suggest to rest and avoid food that can also trigger the symptoms such as spicy food or caffeine.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
