He does not have any symptoms of short breath or stable chest pain. Doctors have given prolomet r 2 tabs/day, Rozawel 20mg 1tab/day. Is it ok? How long it will help?Does he need to be operated?

Hi, Welcome to HCM.

Based on the limited information you have given, it is difficult to advise on his condition. However, the presence of 80% blockage in the LAD poses a significant risk for the future development of myocardial ischemia (heart attack).

I see that he is already on cholesterol lowering medication such as statins (Rozawel) and cardiac slowing medication (Prolomet). His treatment is certainly in the right direction. At this time, since his condition is asymptomatic I recommend lifestyle modification such as diet control and exercise and low dose aspirin (to avoid any clot formation at the origin of LAD causing stenosis). In this regard I strongly advise you to consult your cardiologist.

Building plaque in coronary arteries is primarily due to dyslipidemia (increase in blood lipid levels). Other reasons being smoking, family history of high lipids, diabetes etc.

Hope this helps.

Diabetologist Dr. Pratap VGM's  Response
Dear sir/madam

Most commonly single artery blocks/disease will be treated medically with drugs if it is not a critical blockage.
Your father have been treated with good combination of drugs but Rozawel 20 mg contain rosovastatin 20 mg which is a water soluble statin, instead of it, adviced to start Atarvostatin 20 mg which helps to stablize the blocks and prevents from rupturing.
So consult your doctor and take an opinion about it.

Thanks
