Always I Use To Have Phlegm

I can t seem to get rid of my phlegm . For a couple of months now, I tend to always clear my throat because there s phlegm in there and sometimes its easy to expel it, sometimes I will have a hard time as it s sticky. It gets really sticky especially in the morning upon waking up. Also, two weeks ago, I had an episode of blood spots in my phlegm, I had sore throat then and I was eating a spicy meal . At times, again, especially in the morning, some of the phlegm is dark. What s wrong with my throat and what can I do to stop it? Also, I don t know if it s related but I also have been bloating every time after I eat so when I went to the doctor she prescribed me Domperidone and Omeprazole before meals. One time for Omeprazole which I usually take before dinner, and 3 times (every before meal) for Domperidone. I usually get better after eating when I take the meds. But the phlegm won t go away. Last but not the least, my left arm is achy sometimes. When I lift it up, I get the numb/tingly feeling. Please help! I tend to be a big worried too, so any help, tips, suggestions will be appreciated. I am planning to do some endoscopy next week also. Thanks guys.

Dear Mary Shaw,

Chronic phlegm with occasional blood spotting occult/dark has a cause in the lower respiratory tract. Bronchoscopy should have been done well before.
But, do not worry much, infections if any detected can be well treated by powerful antibiotics.
Your GIT issue is separate and might have occurred due to excessive ingestion of the phlegm over months as you said.

Keep the following in mind:
1. Don't overdo in coughing out the phlegm, let it come out on its own.
2. Keep note of changes in colour, consistency etc as you did.
3. Do some good warm water gargling with OTC Iodine mouth gargle diluted in water 3-4 times daily.
4. Try to cover your mouth with some scarf/cloth.
5. Avoid oily/spicy foods.

Tc.

I started getting a cough last week so my doctor prescribed some Z-Pack. After taking it for 5 days my cough lessened but I was stuck with having some phlegm. My phlegm is clear, sticky and has lots of little bubbles. I have a hard time sleeping at night because of the phlegm. Right now my just taking some robitussin DM but it doesn't seem to work. Is there any medicine that can get rid of this sticky phlegm? Oh, and I forgot to mention, I'm on dialysis so I'm limited on my water input. Thanks
