Addicted To Alcohol And Smoking, Gets Severe Heart And Chest Pains. First Aid Measures For Heart Attack?
Hello there i am concerned with my partner he drinks allot and not going to cut this down and all and smokes as well he gets allot of heart pains and chest pains to a point he doubles up in pain he wont go to the doctors at all is there anything that i need to know and what do i do if he did have a heart attack besides ringing that amblance! Thanks
Dear Ma'm I understand your concern for him. Most important step in management of heart attack is to identify it correctly. The characteristic feature is pain or heaviness behind breastbone, radiation to arms, jaw or upper abdomen, associated with shortness of breath and sweating. There may be nausea, vomiting and giddiness. But there may be atypical features. Once identified correctly, call medical help. Make him rest. Do not let him eat or drink anything till first medical contact. There are medications which should be given as first aid but if identified wrongly, they can do harm too. Hope this helps. Sincerely Sukhvinder
