88 Years. Vascular Demtia, On And Off Behavioural Issues. On Seroqule. Suggested Valproic A Id. Opinion?
my mom i 88 with vascular demtia and in a nursing home. she has occassional bouts of agitated behavioral issues and calls out at night. she has been taking seroqule to calm her down but they recently sugested valproic a id to treat her, ihve been online checking this drug out and do not like what i read but found a valproate given i n study to peole who fit her problems wiht good success .your opinion would be appreciated thank you

So continue that regimen.
The Seroquel is a difficult drug and may not suit some patients at all.
If the patients is having mania like features then the valproic acid may be very useful but the drug may cause liver function derangement so the LFT needs to be checked frequently initially.
If your physician thinks it should be given he might be thinking of managing maniac part, there is worth trying it.
