72 Year Old Person, Suffering From Runny Nose For Months. Taking Sinus Tablets. What Could Be This?
My 72 year old Daddy has constant trouble with his nose running. I'm not talking about just the average runny nose either. His nose pours when he stoops over or just leans his head slightly forward. It is a clear substance that is a constant run. He sometimes has to stop up his nose holes with toilet paper/Kleenex to catch all the drainage. My Daddy takes a prescription sinus table every day, but his symptoms really do not seem to be sinus related. I am very concerned about this for it has been a constant issue for several months now. Daddy has finally agreed to go to the doctor and his appointment is next Tuesday. I'm just asking to see if you have any idea what this may be?
These are symptoms of CSF rhinorroea. this needs to be confirmed with CT cisternography, analysis of the fluid, Diagnostic nasal endoscopy. as you say it is spontaneous he may need surgery to seal the leak
