65 Years. Due For Breast Reduction Surgery. Any Special Care Post Surgery To Be Taken?

My sister has been suffering with extremely large breasts since her early 20's. She is now 65 yrs. of age. Because of cost she has been unable to afford breast reduction surgery. She did find a doctor in Sugarland, Tx. who has set up an appointment for her on the Aug. 19 of this year without charge. My other sister and I are very concerned for her after surgery care. She is very independent and does not want or ask for help from anyone. She is planning on driving home after this surgery, about 20 miles. She is also planning on taking care of 15 dogs, as well. I was wondering at this late date, if the doctor doing the surgery could suggest another doctor in the area of Bryan, Tx. or San Antonio, tx. , which is where my sister and I live, so we can take care of her. Do you have any suggestions?
Thank you, Carole Mapes

Oncologist, Surgical 's  Response
Dear Carole,

Sorry to hear about your sister's problem. Breast reduction (reduction mammoplasties) are routine surgeries in which excess breast tissue is removed. The patient might have pain and bruising in the area for a few days.
Precautions:
- avoid strenuous activity
- avoid driving immediately after surgery as the seat belt will be around thed operated area and applying brakes will put pressure on the operated side
- avoid lifting heavy wieghts, running and going to the gym for 3-4 weeks
- wear a well supported sports bra.

Please feel free to clarify any other query.
