4 Year Child, Vomiting, Not Retaining Water. Had Cottage Cheese, Banana, Potato. Should I Give Him Ondem? Suggest Diet?

Doctor, My son is four years old, yesterday we went for a marriage party where he ate fruits and cottage cheese. he had slight cold at night, as he had bathed in the rain. in the morning he had milk and went to school. He vomited thrice in school and after that he had a banana, puked, I gave him a slice of pear he had, slept for an hour, got up and threw up, then even boiled potato and water. he is not even retaining water. What should I do? Should I give him Ondem and what and when can I give him something to eat? Please reply urgently. Thanx. Dr. Mathur

Welcome to HCM.
It could be due to indigestion. You can give syp. ondencetron to subside the vomiting but if it persist than consider it as food poisoning. You have to start proper antibiotic under guidance of your pediatrician.
Take care for hydration.Give him lemon water with some sugar and salt, buttermilk, ors formula.
Give him liquid,light diet.

Pediatrician Dr. Taher Y Kagalwala's  Response
Dear Prateek,

Yes, you should put him on a vomiting medicine like ondansetron or domperidone. You should ask your doctor about the dosage of these medicines. If his vomiting has not subsided within 2 days, you should take him for a face-to-face consultation.
