3 Year Daughter, Loose Motion, Vomiting, High Fever. Taking Antibiotics After Results, Having Stomach Pain. Advice?
Helo..my 3 year old daughter had a severe loose motion with vomiting and high fever a month back,we did a stool test as per doctor's advice and she had lots of puss cells,mucus and blood dots in her stool sample as per the report.Doc prescribed for antibiotic Taxim - o along with few other medicines and she gradually became better in 3-4 days but often she started complaining about stomach pain while passing motion,we again consulted the doc and he advised to give Flagyl(200mg/5ml) 3 times a day for 10 days,we did that too but since yesterday she is complaining about severe stomach pain.she has no appetite and had could not sleep well last nite due to pain.kindly advice

i would advise you to continue the antibiotics to keep fighting the infection and also get some tests done.
1.complete blood count
2.ultrasound of abdomen
3.repeat stool examination
4.physical examination to see for any hepatomegaly or abdominal tenderness
these will help differentiate the stomach pain and the symptoms due to infection
and those due to any other stomach ailments like appendicitis etc.as the blood picture will show elevated white cells in infection and the ultrasound will pinpoint the organ causing the stomach pain
