27 Weeks Pregnant, Low Lying Placenta, Stomach Cramps, Diarrhea, Had Bleeding Around 24 Weeks. Anything To Worry?

I have a low lying placenta 22mm from os. I am 27 weeks pregnant on Friday. I had some bleeding around 24 weeks and was hospitalised until it stopped. On Sunday I had bad stomach cramps for a couple of hours and a couple of episodes of diarrhea. Do you think this is anything to worry about, I have a doctors appointment today and I am worried if i mention it they will keep me in hospital. Thanks

hello,
Thank you for consulting HCM.I can tell you that just feel free to tell your doctor everything as ita only good for you.Doctor asked you to stay in hospital means that they think that is necessary for you and your baby.Low lying placenta indicates placenta previa in medical term and it is one of the most common cause of antepartum hemorrhage.Normal delivery is not done in this case and immediate c-section is done in emergency cases.Cramps at your gestational age may indicate false pains but still you need to explain your doctor if there is any bleeding present or not.Take care.Hve a good health.Thank you.

Hi, Thanks for using HCM.

Since low lying placenta, there may be chances of bleeding and you shoud be careful on it. Maximum rest and follow your doctor advice for management. For stomach cramps and diarrhoea, If it is infective then you may be admitted for further management to avoid any complications. If no symptoms now then they may not admit you. Get done one USG abdomen once and have regular check up with your doctor. Hope I answered your question. Feel free to ask me if you have any further queries.
Wish you good health. Take care.

Regards
Dr. Lohit
