Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
23 month old child has runny nose n high fever going upto 104.6 since Thursday nite. Doc said must be a viral infection. I have been giving ibuprofen to bring fever down because Tylenol wasn't bringing it down. He seems fine when fever is down. He plays n eats well while fever is down. But today, at around 9 pm, his lower left eyelid looked swollen. My doc told me to take him to after-hours pediatric clinic, but all the clinics close at 9. Any suggestions, what it might be? Is it ok to wait till morning or should I take him to emergency?

Hi, Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic. Continue ibuprofen as advised for fever in prescribed dose and you can do tepid sponging with lukewarm water if there is high grade fever. The eye lid swelling may be due to conjunctivitis which some times is associated in viral fevers. Give plenty of oral fluids and soft diet. You can show to the doctor on tomorrow as it seems non emergency. Hope I have answered your query. Regards.
