2 Weeks Late Periods. Negative Pregnancy Tests, change Of Contraceptive Pills. Cause Of Late Periods?
Hi, I am a 19 yr old female and my period is 2 weeks late. I have taken 2 pregnancy tests over the past two weeks and both were negative. Just over one month ago I switched contraceptive pills from Yaz to Noriday, with a normal period directly before the switch. I take 10mg amitriptyline daily for IBS. Why could my period be late?
To confirm pregnancy, I suggest to undergo one serum beta-hCG test. It is more reliable than home pregnancy test.
Beside pregnancy, there are several reasons of late period like hormonal ups & downs (effect of contraceptive pill), stress/ anxiety, over wt, certain psychiatric medication, ovarian cyst etc.
Here, you must consult with gynecologist for complete evaluation with other relevant investigation (like USG, hormone test etc). Take suggestive treatment according to test reports.
Till then, take healthy diet, avoid mental stress, control body wt, keep bowel habit regular and take sound sleep. Good luck.
