Brief Answer:
Tests to find out the cause of hypothyroidism;

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking!
I have gone carefully through your concern.
I would suggest to check AntiTPO and AntiTg antibodies in order to find out the cause of hypothyroidism; is it a chronic disease that needs long term treatment, or not.
A thyroid ultrasound would also be of help.
After these exams i will be able to suggest the treatment for the future.
Best wishes,
Dr.Mirjeta

Brief Answer:
About hypothyroidism;

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
Thyroid antibodies should be checked in order to confirm/ rule out Hashimoto thyroiditis, a chronic autoimmune disease.
If the antibodies are positive, you should check thyroid hormones once in 6 months because TSH will have a tendency to increase progressively.
Thyroid ultrasound ( not abdominal one) is neccessary to give information about thyroid structure.
Hope the information will help.

Dr.mirjeta

Brief Answer:
About hypothyroidism;

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
If heart rate was better under treatment with levothyroxine, than i would not suggest to stop it, but take 25 mcg daily.
Of course, cardiologist should exclude before cardiac pathologies or arythmia ( atrio-ventricular block).
To say if you need the treatment longlife, the antibodies suggested above should be checked.
Best wishes,
Dr.Mirjeta

Brief Answer:
See a neurologist:

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
Your symptoms are not related to thyroid pathology.
The antibodies are positive, that means you need to check TSH every 6 months. Treatment needed when TSH over 10 mui/ ml.
You need to see a neurologist for the actual symptoms ( dizziness, loosing balance and numbness) , they are not related to thyroid pathologies.
Stop levothyroxine, check TSH after 6 months.

Dr.mirjeta

Brief Answer:
About hypothyroidism;

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
Your pathology is called Hashimoto thyroiditis, a chronic autoimmune disease that leads to hypothyroidism.
During the lifetime TSH will get increased that is why you should keep monitoring it.
Treatment is mandatory when TSH is over 10 mui/ ml, and under 10 when symptoms of hypothyroidism are present.
In your case TSH got decreased too much with very low dose of levothyroxine, that happens very rarely in fact.
Regarding to your symptoms they are not typical of hypothyroidism furthermore TSH has been slightly altered, that is why a neurological pathology should be excluded.
You should be aware that the diagnosis and treatment of the patient can nit be done without seeing the patient, you can only take some more info about your diagnosis.
Wishing you good health.
Best wishes,
Dr.Mirjeta
