Will Shingles Have An Effect On The PET Scan And Biopsy Result?

default
Posted on Wed, 26 Apr 2017
Question: based on the pictures online, I believe I have shingles.
I'll have blood work done today, a PET scan tomorrow and a biopsy of a right lung mass on Friday.
My question is if shingles would interfere with any of the above.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Blood work and PET scan won't be affected.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Blood work and PET scan won't be affected by shingles.
But if skin lesions of shingles are on the chest and biopsy site is also there then biopsy will not be possible.
So please let me know
1. Where is your lung mass? I mean right or left side, upper /mid /lower chest?
2. Do you have skin lesions on chest area?
Please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
