What Is Thyroid, Immunity Test Suggested After Multiple Miscarriages?
Question: My daughter age 38 has has 3 miscarriages & NOW, not in beginning, she'll need to get her thyroid, immune system & shape of uterus??? Please explain why & it's outcome after such tests??? Any other tests???

Recurrent abortions can be due to many causes like thyroid disorders(hypothyroidism),uncontrolled diabetes, immune system disorders(APLA), uterine anomalies, fibroid,genetic abnormalities etc. That is why the doctor has asked for these tests.
1.After getting thyroid test(T3,T4,TSH), hypothyroidism can be ruled out and if it is present can be treated with eltroxin.
2.APLA screening for any autoimmune disease,if positive can be treated with aspirin and heparin injections as soon as the pregnancy is diagnosed.
3. Shape of the uterus can be determined by scan,hysterosalpingogram or sonosalpingogram. Any abnormality in the uterus like biconuate can be diagnosed and corrective surgery can be performed. If the is a large fibroid, myomectomy might be required. Cervical incompetence can also be treated by putting cervical encirclage during pregnancy.
Other tests which need to be done is screening for diabetes and TORCH infection.
