Brief Answer:
Underlying condition should be treated.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to "Ask a Doctor" service.

I have read your query.

Both, Babinski sign and foot drop are consequences, not conditions, of nerve damage.

While Babinski sign is found in damage of nerves appertaining central nervous system, foot drop may be caused by central or peripheral nerve damage.

Improvement of these neurological findings should come after successful treatment of the underlying cause, be it herniated disc, central nervous system lesions, etc., but several factors, time from the onset of these signs, affect the outcome.

Discuss with your Neurologist for these issues.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Is it possible that the nerve damage from a right knee replacement surgery could cause pain in the left groin as well as the right groin. The right groin appears to be getting better but the left groin continues to be painful.

Brief Answer:
No.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.

No, a possibly damaged nerve in the knee should not cause pain in the groin area.

The pain in the groin may be caused by local abdominal problems such as inguinal herniation, urinary bladder problems, middle spinal cord conditions such as herniated disc, stenosis, etc.

See your Doctor for these issues.

Hope this helps.

Feel free to ask if you have further questions.
