What Does This Ultrasound Report Indicate?

Posted on Tue, 12 Jul 2016
Question: Did an ultrasound today and was told that the endometrium thickened from 1.1 to 1.8 cm which was the original measurement. The misoprostol and other natural methods had brought it down to 1.1. Can you help?

Brief Answer:
Can be due to hormonal effect.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
I have seen the ultrasound report attached. The thickening of the endometrium in only one uterine horn can be due to hormonal influence. There are no retained products of conception inside the uterine cavity. So, a D&C will not help.
Since you have polycystic ovaries, the change in endometrial thickness can be related to it. This endometrium is likely to decrease on its own once you have your normal periods. Do take a hormonal treatment after consulting your gynecologist to have a withdrawal bleeding.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

Brief Answer:
Get norethisterone prescribed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.

Withdrawal bleeding is the bleeding that takes place after you stop taking the hormonal pills or progesterone pills. Your gynecologist can prescribe synthetic progesterone pills like norethisterone for 5-7 days and after stopping the medicine you will have bleeding that will help in shedding off of the extra endometrium.

Hope my answer is helpful.
