Question: Hi. A recent liver test shows high bilirubin of 1.8. These are the other numbers all in normal range? Any advice for what causes the raised bilirubin? Any other tests I should ask for?

AST 18
ALP 45

I had a bad bout of diverticulitis and took flagyll and cipro for 3 weeks in XXXXXXX

I have currently reduced my alcohol intake but prior to getting sick averaged 2 glasses wine daily or 1-2 drinks.

1. What are direct and indirect bilirubin levels?

I cannot seem to find the numbers for direct and indirect.

The albumin is 4.6
The total protein is 7.0

There urine tested negative for bilirubin

Brief Answer:
Answer given below

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
A/G ratio is more than 1. So you do not have any chronic liver disease.
You are having normal liver enzymes.
So this means you have hyperbilirubinemia only.
Without knowing direct and indirect component, it is difficult to say what is causing it as the causes are different.
The most common cause is XXXXXXX syndrome.

The following needs to be done.
1. Direct/indirect bilirubin
2. Reticulocyte count.

Regards,
Dr.R.K.
