Question: My wife is 30 weeks pregnent. Due to belly itching our doctor suggest for lft test. We found her sgot 182 ul and sgpt 160 ul as well as alkaline phosphatase 170 ul. This is high than average..

Please do suggest me if this is going to be a issue for our baby.... .. And some suggestion to overcome from this.. My doctor suggest me to take ursokem 300 2 tab daily.

Actually we had a previous bad experience. That time our baby expired after 4th day of delivery due to breathing problem... that's why am too much worried about it.. please do help me out..

Brief Answer:
Taking the tablets as advised will help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
During pregnancy it is normal for the liver enzymes to be elevated due to extra stress on the liver due to the baby. This is called cholestasis of pregnancy. These raised liver enzymes will normalize on their own after delivery.
For the time being taking tablets Ursokem will help. This mild rise in liver enzymes will not harm baby. The respiratory problem is usually seen in premature babies. Raised liver enzymes are not associated with any such serious issues.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
