What Does The Following Semen Analysis Report Suggest?
Question: Hi Doctor, I am 34/M, I have done SEMEN Analysis and received the following report:
Volume 1ml
Reaction/PH 8.0
Total Sperm count: 1.5 Millions/ml
Agglutination: Absent
Progressive Motility: 10%
Non Progressive Motility 10%
Non Motile: 80%
Morphology:
Normal Forms: 80%
Abnormal Forms: 20%
Other findings:
pus cells: 10-15/HPF
Epithelial Cells : 2-3/hpf
Impressions;
Oligoasthenospermia with evidence of infection
Motility: lower ref limit for total motility (+ve + -ve) is 40%
Morphology: Lower ref limit for normal forms is 4%
Method: automated semen analyser, microscopy, / H&E Stain/ seliwanoffs test.
My Questions:
1. I was diabetic 8 months back and now its in control (since past 5 months). Following strictly 1400 Kcal Diet plan.
2. I am married 7 years now and have a baby girl of 5 years.
3. I got viral infection in XXXXXXX 2015 and got hospitalized for few days.
4. I used to smoke a lot earlier, but have quit smoking since XXXXXXX 2015.
We are trying to conceive for a second child, would request what steps are to be taken and how to get treated on oligasthenospermia. My wife and I doubt the report as our married life is good, however unable to conceive for past few years.
