What Does My Ultrasound Scan Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Thu, 7 Jan 2016
Question: Hi, I've just had an internal pelvic ultrasound and there were blue and red dots on on side of the image. I went to get one because I spotted for a day and then two days later began bleeding so bad that I had to go to the ER, the doctor gave me progesterone (10mg) a day to stop the bleeding and it is not working. What could this indicate?

Brief Answer:
Needs work up and management for menorrhagia

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Heavy periods also called menorrhagia can be attributed to mostly hormonal imbalance, uerine fibroids, endometriosis or adenomyosis mostly. Infections like PID, use of some recent NSAIDs or any anticoagulants and use of IUD devices can cause that. In order to comment on ultrasound, i am afraid blue and white dots are not enough. You have to share the ultrasound report with me.

You need to see an ObGyn and let them sort it out the cause first and then the management will be accordingly. Right now to stop the bleeding tranexamic acid, progesterone or hormonal IUD device like mirena can be considered. I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Brief Answer:
Endometriosis needs treatment. Fertility needs help

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back to me

As i mentioned endometriosis is commonest cause for such menstrual heaviness. Apart from progesterone many other medications are options for endometriosis like danazol, GnRH analogs. DMPA injections and conservative surgeries.

Regarding fertility, you will need a fertility consultant to help you in assisted reproductive techniques like in vitro fertilization etc. Hope for the best. Treatment of endometriosis and fertility consult is treatment.

I hope it helps.

Khan
