What Does My Lab Test Reports Indicate?

Posted on Wed, 30 Mar 2016
Question:      I underwent cyberfknife treatment for prostate cancer in September, 2015. The last of the (5) treatments took place on September 30, 2015.
My PSA prior to treatment was 22.9, TRUS XXXXXXX scores of 6,7,8,8. Tumor grade T1C
Post SBRT treatment (6 weeks) PSA 22.4
Post SBRT treatment (12 weeks) PSA 40.9
Does the latest PSA reading constitute "biochemical failure" or is too soon to come to that conclusion?
Would it be worthwhile to have a PET/CAT scan done, understanding that cancer cells are likely to manifest, given that favorable results from Cyberknife may take a 12-24 months to manifest, i.e. low PSA

Brief Answer:
Too early to say.

Detailed Answer:
Good day and thank you for being with healthcare magic!

My conclusion is it still too early to say that you have biochemical failure. I would continue to monitor your PSA every month to determine the PSA trend. You may be suffering from PSA bounce.

I did you doctor do a total body bone scan prior to treatment? hormonal therapy?
