Detailed Answer:
hello XXXXXXX
You are suffering from Graves disease.
To confirm this , you can get a nuclear test done (Tc uptake scan). The treatment options are 1) neomercazole tablet 30 mg daily --- which should be dose adjusted after 2 months and continued for 12-18 months
In case if there is a recurrence on tapering or stopping the medications - you may have to undergo the second treatment option (radio iodine ablation).
If you have a large goiter , you can consider surgery.
I will prefer the first option - that is oral medications and radio iodine treatment if disease recurs.
Hope it was useful and you can get back to us in case if further doubts are there

Thanks doc. I will go with the medications you meantioned. I do have a couple of questions though. 1. Are there any side effects. 2. Will it help me regain my lost weight? 3. How urgent is it to start my treatment quickly, meaning if it is already very high? 4. Do I need any other tests or can I start my treatment with the medicines?

Brief Answer:
side effects are minimal

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Neomercazole has mild side effects and are very rare. if you have any throat ulcers or persistent infection or fever or rash , you can consult your nearby physician and express your concern.
It will definitely help you regain your weight.
The medications are to be taken under guidance of an endocrinologist or physician.
Hope you found it useful and we will be glad to help you further

Brief Answer:
Tc uptake scan

Detailed Answer:
You have primary hyperthyroidism : the most common cause of excess thyroid hormones. Technically it can be Graves disease (diffuse hyperactivity of thyroid gland or autonomus functioning thyroid nodule (AFTN: focal activity of the gland).
Tc uptake scan will help you identify the basic pathology. If AFTN, radio iodine treatment is preferred over Antithyroid medications. Please feel free to get back to us if you do a Tc uptake scan. This facility will be available in nuclear scan centers of major cities
