What Does My Blood Test Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Thu, 20 Apr 2017
Question: Hi I have been given blood test results with egfr was 59. I was sent for a second test which I am waiting for results. This made me investigate past tests and in 2013 my creatinine level was 118 umol/L but my doctor didn't flag it up at the time. Is this cause for concern. I am a 33 year old white male professional athlete.

Brief Answer:
Explained below. ..

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concern.

Can you please send me a copy of your blood test results? I want to analyze the results myself before running Into final conclusions. You can simply upload/attach them at the reports section of this webpage.

Next, since you've said:
- you're an athlete. Can you please let me know if you are taking any sports supplement?
Please take note that usually athletes do take sports supplements which are rich in creatinine to boost muscle mass.

The increased intake of creatinine will cause dehydration, kidney disease and high levels of creatinine in the blood. This might explain why your creatinine was found high in 2013 and why your EGFR is reduced this year.

Looking forward to have the requested information in your follow-up.
Regards
Dr.Albana
