Question: I had a blood test that resulted in a reading of 0.059 MG/L presence of Alprazolam. How many mg of the drug would cause this result.

Without detail history a single blood sample cannot determine easily how much dose have been taken.

Following oral administration, alprazolam is readily absorbed. Peak concentrations in the plasma occur in one to two hours following administration. Plasma levels are proportionate to the dose given; over the dose range of 0.5 to 3.0 mg, peak levels of 8.0 to 37 ng/mL were observed.

You mentioned a reading of 0.059 mg/L means 59 ng/ml. If we consider that is it peak level then 4-5 mg dose should be there.

However individual metabolism, regular use of drug, other drug interactions, plasma protein binding, time of the drug taken and time of the blood collection and many more factors are involved in blood tests reading. Without history it is difficult to determine find exact figure with single reading.

In conclusion at least 4 mg dose of drug must be required to get this level.
