Question: thyroid was just tested Tsh was .50 and is now 1.18 I am to increase pills to 11/7 per week to help with constipation. wbc count up higher the doctor said it was indicating a respority infection? the other pills are for the side effects based on research my Dr did on them which is why I am on them. I don't have diabetes or gout. Acolonoscopy was done i was told by the surgeon they removed a polyp however the specialist said it was part of the bowel that was taken but there was nothing to report .

Brief Answer:
I will suggest you continue to increase the dose while we monitor response!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

Please, your information is not very clear. Persosn with low functioning thyroid normalmly have higher TSH levels. Yours seem to be the reveres. Did you check this before or is this what your doctor communicated to you. I will suggest that you check these numbers and report them again. For the drugs, persistence of constipation will signal that you need higher doses than the already existing doses. Increasing would be okay. To make me feel further confident about this, I will like clarifications on the TSH values.

Colonoscopies often result in resction of polyps. Unless they are cancerous; there is nothing to bother about. From what your doctor has reported, it is clear there were no signals of cancer and you are fine.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Brief Answer:
These symptoms don’t add up fully!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this follow up.

Low thyroid will cause weight gain and not weight loss. The other symptoms can be attributed to low thyroid. Can I kindly ask that you upload these results for me to interpret? Please.

I really hope to hear from you being saying more. Waiting!

Brief Answer:
Please, can you send teh result for TSH?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through the results and there is no mention of TSH. Can you check the uploads and make sure that was uploaded as well? That is what i really need to comment on. These other laboratory findings have no major red flags.

Let me hear from you as soon as possible.

Brief Answer:
You results are not suggestive of hypothyroidism!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Your TSH levels are not suggestive of hypothyroidism unless they were higher before you got on treatment. If it were higher and has gotten lower just now, then I will say your dosage is too much. If the values was this low when you started treatment, then this is rather suggestive of a hyper functioning thyroid and not a hypothyroid state.

Ask your doctor about this and hear what he gives as an explanation for this.

I wish you well and hope to hear back from you!

my TSH level was .50 before going on the pills. Would a hyper function thyroid account for my other symptoms?

Brief Answer:
But for constipation, the other symptoms can be explained by hyperthyroidism

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Your symptoms are not typical of a low functioning thyroid. This is further supported by the laboratory findings. Weight loss and fatigue are well corrected with hyper functioning thyroid. Constipation is not typical and we would have linked rather towards diarrhea/frequent stools. My suggestion is that you openly talk about this to your treating doctor to understand whether there is some information we are missing out here or not to be on the same page with him.

Please, do well to keep me posted.
