What Does High WBC Count In A Urine Test Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Tue, 5 May 2015
Question: For the last couple of weeks, I've had malaise, fatigue, etc. All tests were negative except for urine test. I took 3 urine tests with really high WBC of 426, 476 and over 500. My doctor gave me a drug for a UTI but a culture grow came back negative. The pills (Bactrim) haven't helped. About a month ago I had TURP surgery. Any thoughts?

Brief Answer:
Require further investigations to rule out any problem in kidneys.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, XXXX,
Thanks for posting query.
Gone deep into your problem history.

Having plenty of WBC in urine indicates severe infection in your urinary tract.
This can give rise to fever, malaise and fatigue.

Passing this much WBC might be due to TURP surgery.

Inspite of having high WBC in urine shows culture test negative. This might be due to antibiotic Bactrim that you are taking.

It seems that you might require another strong broad spectrum antibiotic to clear this infection.

You might require further investigations like ultra sound of urinary tract to find out any problem in your kidneys or retention of urine which might give this infection.
Consult urologist and get examined and investigate.

Meanwhile take plenty of water.
I hope, I answered your query.
If you have further query or clarification, pleas ask.
Ok and wish you speedy recovery.
