What Does Elevated ALT Level Indicate?

Question: I am a 50 year old women. Just got my ALT scores back. It was 57. I drink alcohol four to five times a week. Recently quit though. Take Simvastatin and Levothyroxine. Could I have Cirrosis?

Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. ALT is only mildly elevated.
2. In elderly, up to two times can be normal.
3. You do not have cirrhosis at present.
4. Avoid alcohol and continue other medication as usual.
5. If still have doubt's, an ultrasound will confirm. Based on ALT, no cirrhosis.
