What Does A Bump On Lower Spine Indicate?

default
Posted on Wed, 9 Jul 2014
Question: Hello!

My son is 4 years old and has a bump on his mid to lower spine. I noticed it weeks ago and it looked like a bruise. Other times that I've noticed it, it has looked like a big bug bite. Depending on how he is sitting/standing/laying, it sometimes is hard and seems like a part of his spine may be bumped out a little further than the rest of the vertebrae, other times it feels a little squishy. Also, sometime it looks like a little rash. It doesn't seem to hurt or bother him, and he hasn't been walking strangely. What could this be?

Thank you!
