Question: My husband is really worried about his platelets counts. ALL of his other blood work is excellent, nothing out of range, except for platelete. In 2015 they were 425, then May of 2016 442, now Feburary 2017 they are 567. Should he be worried. His doctor just says we're going to watch it.

Brief Answer:
Hello dear. It's all normal

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear.

So a normal platelet count varies from 150 to 500 and a mild spill outside this range is also considered as normal.

We take abnormal counts only if ti is less than 100 or more than 600. The count varies from person to person and even in a normal person it will vary from day to day and even in the same day.

It is due to the differential rates of formation and breakdown of platelets.

So no need to worry. It's all normal.

Thanks and regards
