But now I got blood test with abnormal result - D- DIMER = 2,13 H/ Reference Range - less 0,45 ug/ml /. Could you explain me what it does mean? And what I have to do? Sorry about mistakes. Brief Answer:
High rheumatoid factor causing false high d-dimer level.See below...

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I read your message carefully and understood your concern.

First, let me summarize your case:

- woman 78

- spondylolisthesis and hypothyroid after hepatitis C (treated 2008)

- current blood test D-Dimer=2,130

- medications: ibuprofen, synthroid, nexium, multivitamins, creon 48

The D-Dimer test is a quite sensitive test but it is not specific for any disease.

You have spondylolisthesis (which predisposes for developing rheumatoid conditions to spine, also your age has a high chance to develop any joint arthritis) and this contributes in raising the d-dimer count.

Inflammation, any recent infection and especially people with high rheumatoid factor come with a false positive d- dimer test.

Your drugs are fine. They help you relieve pain and other symptoms and keep you fit.

Can you please tell if you note other symptoms like any:
- headache?
- swellings? or anything else?

These symptoms are indicating other underlying conditions (e.g. stroke, etc.) with very evident symptoms so if you don't have symptoms there is nothing to worry about.

It is just your high rheumatoid factor that has made the test false positive to d-dimer.
You can send the reports of all the tests you did to me to get them analyzed further.

I hope this is helpful for you.
