What Do My Liver Function Test Results Indicate?

Question: I have high levels of AST and ALT from a blood panel test
AST 46
ALT 71
I am 40 eat right and have never had any major health issues. They checked for hep and all those results ar negative. Does this indicate liver problems?

Hi and welcome.
These are slightly elevated ast and moderately elevated alt with normal bilirubin levels. In such cases,viral hepatitis is first thing to think of,but if this was ruled out then you don't need to be concerned. This may be seen even without particular disorder or may be sign of slight liver steatosis. You should do liver ultrasound every6 months and check liver enzymes every few months. If findings are constantly rising then XXXXXXX disease or autoimmune hepatitis should be considered.if not,then there is no need for further investigations. Wish you good health. Regards
