Question: I was on serequel for a little over 2 years. I gained 30 pounds on it. I stopped taking it about 3 weeks ago and so far I've only lost about 6 pounds....even though I am following a low carb low sugar diet...eating very healthy meals and being physically active...how long after stopping serequel should my metabolism return. to normal

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

Seroquel as you well know does cause weight gain, an average of about 15 pounds. Fortunately, this weight can come off with a healthy diet and lots of exercise. You are losing about 2 pounds per week, which is very fast. I would actually slow it down a bit. Your metabolism has already returned to normal, so over time with a healthy diet and exercise this weight will come off. I recommend no faster than 1 pound per week, otherwise studies show you are likely to gain it back quickly.
