What Causes Weakness In Body After Smoking Cigarette?

default
Posted on Thu, 26 Feb 2015
Question: This only happens on occasion but worries me. I wake up, go smoke my first morning cigarette and as soon as I come back inside I feel weak and "not right". Then I feel like I'm going to pass out, turn EXTREMELY a pale and cold and a little short of breath then immediately feel like I need to have a bowel movement. So I go to the bathroom, have a small "diarrhea" type bowel movement go lay down and put my legs up and then I'm fine. What is happening to my body when this happens? It's only with the first cigarette of the day if it happens

Brief Answer:
Considerations

Detailed Answer:
hello and thanks for sending the question.

I suspect that the symptoms you are experiencing might be related to the sensitivity your body may have developed to nicotine in the early morning.

Sometimes in the morning the body may be a bit dehydrated which might increase the sensitivity you have two cigarette exposure.

you might try hydrating yourself with a couple of glasses of water first and then see if this changes the experience you have after smoking a cigarette.

If you have any other medications that have changed in the recent past this may be something to consider as well.

I would say however that if the symptoms become more prevalent or more severe that you should talk about it with your primary care doctor. Your doctor mightsuggest some testing to rule out any underlying metabolic abnormalities.
