What Causes Urinary Dysfunction After Prostate Cancer Treatment?

Question: About 4 weeks ago I finished 28 radiation therapy treatments for prostate cancer. I was recovering well but in the last few days I have difficulty urnating and have a frequency and urgency problem. I am taking flow XXXXXXX chalis 5 mg and mybretric 25mg. Could this be from the medications? the treatment? is it possible I have a bladder infection. Advil helps.

Thanks for query .
You have been taking radiation therpy for cancer of the prostate since 28 weeks and facing problem of frequency ,urgency,and dysuria since one month .

All these problems are likely to be due to post Radiation Bladder Neck stenosis and need to be confirmed .

Consult your Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Serum PSA.
4) Endoscopic examination of bladder (Cystoscopy).

Till then continue taking medications that you have been prescribed .These symptoms are not due to medications .

Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.
